Over two decades, Jerry Kaplan transformed his inaugural agency, into one of the nation’s top 10 commercial collection agencies. Alongside this achievement, he emerged as a vocal advocate and influential figure within the industry. Jerry dedicated himself to upholding ethical standards while refining the strategies for handling large commercial claims. His extensive knowledge in commercial collections, law, banking, and business operations enabled him to secure maximum returns for his clients.
In addition to his pivotal role in the commercial collection agency realm, Jerry assumed leadership positions, serving as president of the American Commercial Collections Association (now the IACC) and treasurer for the Commercial Collection Agency Section of the Commercial Law League of America.
In 1989, Jerry transitioned away from day-to-day management, selling Kaplan & Kaplan. However, retirement was short-lived as clients continued to seek out “the Kaplan approach.” Thus, in 1991, he founded The Kaplan Group to manage specialized cases, and the firm swiftly expanded from there.
In 2002, Dean Kaplan assumed leadership, guiding the company’s growth into a national network of seasoned specialists in handling large claims.
